video displays out range bootup

Video displays "Out of Range" at bootup

I try to do a clean installation of Vista Beta 2 on my Sony VIAO (SiS 651 Graphic Controller) with NEC LCD 1712 display. After the computer boots up from the DVD, I got this message (from the display, not from Windows): "Out of Range". I can't get pass this point to actually run the set up. Any ideas?
Thanks.

"Out Of Range" usually means that your video refesh rate is too high. Try lowering your refresh rate for the video card/monitor. -- John F. Lavey

I'm not sure if there is an option to lower the resolution/frequency on the installation screen. My monitor doesn't have that option, neither.

It means uselly your LCD resolution and/or the refresh rate is set up too high than the monitor is capable

Isn't that set in the installation program? If there is a way to specify the initial resolution, I would like to know.

Re-boot into Safe Mode and uninstall the video driver. Then reboot and it should re-install the driver with basic settings. The settings that Windows has assigned for your display is "Out of range" of your monitor's capabilities.

I can't boot up in SafeMode because Windows hasn't been installed yet. This is the first time ever that the computer boots up using the installation DVD. I'm not sure if there is an option to lower the resolution/frequency on the installation screen.

I had this problem, installing with a SiS 65X based laptop, got round it by plugging a monitor into the VGA port on the back of the laptop, then completing the steps riker suggests. Just this minute it appears to have booted using standard graphics driver and i have a output on both the laptop screen and monitor.
Hope this helps.

I think this is EXACTLY the problem I am having. Everything installs properly and I even got the system running fine once, but tried installing clean and cannot clear the video settings this time around. HOW do I remove the video drivers ?
